Welcome to the Fred Friswold Memorial website. We are glad to share and hear from you as we seek to create a space that honors Fred’s life and legacy until such time that we can more properly host an in person gathering of family, friends, colleagues, and community members.
Fred R. Friswold (January 21, 1937- June 24, 2020)
Fred Ravndal Friswold was a loving husband, wonderful father, world class adventurer and life-long community volunteer. In addition to his business leadership at Dain Bosworth and Tonka Equipment, he was a dedicated community leader giving his time, talent, and treasure to education, children’s health, faith and service. His servant leadership spanning over 50 years contributed to the University of Minnesota (Gateway Corporation, Greek Alumni Council, UMAA, Discovery Nexus), UMFIA, YMCA, U of M Children’s Hospital, Rotary Club of Minneapolis, Good Samaritan United Methodist Church and many others.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years Catherine Marie Martin, daughters Cyndie Hays (John), Rabi Birgen (Nahashon) and sons Steve (Aisha), Barry (Carlos) and Ben (Sara) and 11 grandchildren Elysa, Julian (Allison), Jacob, Cindy, Jonathon, Alec, Eric, Monique, Althea, Trygve, Beck. He is preceded in death by his daughter Michelle, brother Paul and sister Kris. He was also a 40+ year friend of Bill W.
